What's Happening This Year

It will soon be time for the Georgia Renaissance Festival in Fairburn, and we will be there spinning and dyeing and talking to the world about textiles in the 16th Century. Join us for the day and enjoy a Day at the Festival.

AT the end of June - June 23, June 30, and July 7 - I will be teaching one of my favorite classes, Mixing Knit & Crochet: Working with knit and crochet together, at SeFAA in Chamblee. I love using my handspun to make gifts and things for my family to use, and because I do crochet faster than I knit, I often use both methods in pieces. Whether it is vests, sweaters, blankets, scarves or hats, I love using my knitting needles and my crochet hooks to mix up the textures in my projects. Join me at SeFAA for two mornings of learning about how to rethink your work, and work up a scarf or two from patterns that I include in the handout. Check out the SeFAA website at fiberartsalliance.org to sign up.

In September, the Peachtree Handspinners will begin a year long celebration of their 40th Birthday with an exhibit in Cartersville that will be filled with spinning gatherings, panel discussions with artists, and an Sheep to Shawl Demonstration as well as a hall at the Bartow County Historical Museum filled with the works of PHG and Etowah Valley Handspinners members. The exhibit - Home Grown and Handmade - will run through January 31, 2025.

IN October I will be back in Perry at the Georgia National Fair at "The Wool Story",  and there is nothing better on a Fall Day in Georgia than a Day at the Fair. Join me and all the other folks at the Best Fair in the South!
